This month the focus was still on the rear end, more work on the front suspension and the gear box was re-assembled. But the big thing was major work done to the engine with the fitting of new pistons and valves. They also rebuilt the drive shaft flex couplings, another item we can from Cavalitto today.

Work on cylinder block checking block prior to sending away for boring.
Make up long studs ready for line boring.
Clean out oil sump, oil pump relief valves and oil ways.
Commence work on cylinder head, fitting exhaust valve guides and grinding in valves.
Machine and fit inlet guides, ream out and recut seats.
Lap in valves and machine valve stems.
Fit valves to head and assemble rocker gear and camshaft – “shim up” to obtain correct clearance.
Check tappet clearance and camshaft end float.
Clean and check rocker box cover.
Make up various gaskets.
Commence assembly of gearbox fit all gears and bearings.
Check all working – fit gear box top.
Inspect all road wheels for cracks after bead blasting.
Remove dents from rims.
Fit metalastik bushes to rear axle mounting beams.
Commence to fit axle beams.
Part assembly of one front suspension springing unit and devise sealing requirement.
Turn up two sleeves to fit to front suspension to carry lips seals to kingpin – fit seals.
Press seals into place.
Commence assembly of rear suspension part.
Force grease into various swivels on spring hangers.
Fabricate two spindles and two special nuts to carry greasers.
Fit up front hydraulic pipes.
Strip old metal from main bearings – tin bearing faces and re metal.
Prepare and send clutch plate for lining.
Dismantle electrics and remove dash.
Make up new wiring loom.
Modify bearing housing.
Make up special bolts.
Make and fit studs in crankcase.
Bore main bearings.
Make up spacers.
Make and fit small end bushes.
Re profile front suspension slide after chrome plating.
